Full Property Details :

Lisin Na Cre, Ballydehob is a picturesque traditional Irish cottage, pink-washed and surrounded by pretty flowers, in peaceful West Cork. Exquisitely decorated and furnished with lots of original features and artisitic flair. It faces South over Ballydehob and Roaring Water Bay. Sleeps up to 4 guests.

Overview:

Lisin Na Cre cottage has a large living room/kitchen with a dining area, well-equipped kitchen, and a wood burning stove with comfortable sofas on each side. A satellite TV/DVD and music system are provided for indoor entertainment, plus books in every bedroom.

Both bedrooms have their own bathroom - one with a roll top bath and the other with a shower. The bathrooms have beautiful pebble floors. Duvets and pillows are goose down, the bed linen is white Egyptian cotton and there are large fluffy towels on heated towel rails. One of the two double bedrooms has French doors opening into the yard and garden opposite.

Outside there is a seating area and BBQ near the house. The piggery is now a play castle, and the hen house has been converted into a ‘museum’ known as the ‘Guggenhen’. There is also a wildflower meadow/orchard and woods to explore.

Area information and things to do:

The scenery around the cottage is beautiful. Mount Gabriel stands to the west of the cottage, hills and forestry are behind (to the north), just over the hill are Dunmanus Bay and Bantry Bay. To the east is the lively market town of Skibbereen and to the west the village of Schull, the sailing centre of Roaring Water Bay.

Gardens - Influenced by the warm Gulf Stream along this coast, plants grow luxuriously in wild and secret gardens like Garnish Island and Dereen.

Island visits - Ferry boats leave from Schull in the summer months and Baltimore throughout the year to the islands in Roaringwater Bay.

Beaches - There are many beautiful sandy beaches for enjoying picnicking, swimming, body surfing, kayaking and sailing. West Cork and Kerry can be explored in day trips from the cottage.

Golf – local courses offer plenty of choice

Horse riding, archeological trips, local hill walking and exploring can be undertaken nearby. A huge range of alternative therapies and pamper treatments are accessible also.

Food - In West Cork, local, organically-grown fresh produce is sold everywhere and at farmer's markets. So cook well at home and try local specialties, or be tempted to eat out by any of the excellent restaurants and pubs. Just over the hill at Durrus, Carmel Somers (used to cook at Bibendum and at Sally Clarke in London), runs The Good Things Cafe in July and August, and then cooking courses for the rest of the year. Book well ahead for both these. On nearby Heir Island John Desmond and Ellmary Fenton run the gourmet Island Cottage restaurant (but be sure to book early).

The property sleeps up to 4.
